Doris Olafsen


Since 2005 Doris has served as Vice President of Philanthropy for Opportunity International Canada, a microfinance registered charity that provides financial solutions and training for people living in poverty to transform their lives, their children’s futures and their communities. Doris leads the Canadian private philanthropy team as a player/coach.

Doris’s passion for TWU Spartan Athletics dates back to 1998 when she was seconded from an administrative position to the Spartan Dream Team as their first marketing director. Doris helped to profile and raise sponsorship funding for the Spartans in their inaugural CIS year. She went on to serve as Executive Director for Alumni, Communications and Development and after twelve years on the campus concluded her final four years at Trinity Western as VP of Advancement.

Career highlights include having served on a number of non-profit boards and mentoring next generation leaders. In 2008 she was the recipient of the Leading Women Award in Business from Next Level Leadership; in 2010 she was a torchbearer in the Vancouver Paralympics; in 2014 she was recognized by The Bridgeway Foundation as one of “100 fantastic Canadian Christian women leaders.

In 2017 Doris together with her husband Ray co-founded The Joyful Living Joyful Giving Foundation with a vision to see contagious generosity revive, renew and empower people and organizations to help them become the best version of themselves. Over the last number of years Joyful Living has been a proud sponsor of a number of events hosted by the Spartan Foundation.

With a MA in Leadership from TWU, Doris believes that we are all blessed to be a blessing and to live life generously.
